A quick look on Street view shows that James Street turns into Mount Brown at about number 200ish so on that basis I would be suspicious.

There are also some shops which, to get back business from e-tailers, will offer to match on-lines prices. It's good to have the proof in your hands.

Chris, Many thanks for your diligence. My phone has not been jailbroken; it's as standard as they come. The intelliot.com link made for some interesting reading, and useful info on the order to hold and release the sleep/wake and home buttons. It appears that my phone had got itself into dfu mode...

Free PlainText - Dropbox text editing app
First post
Last post
I've been using Plaintext for a while. It's become my No 1 text editor on the iPhone and iPad (so much so that it's in the Dock on both devices). The fact that it syncs with Dropbox means that, as a previous poster says, I can continue from where I left off, even if it's back at my desk on a PC....

Cheers mate. I'd spotted those in HMV the other night, which led me to Amazon, which led me to these: I've got those, I use them with my iPhone 4. They are great! You don't get track names on the screen, but the controls work well, and calls using them are good, too. :-)

iPad - RSS Apps

For me, Pulse is just too much. It looks great, and i'm sure the concept is awesome, but i'm following about 40 RSS feeds, it would take to long to browse through them using Pulse. Its one of the reasons i'm not using Flip (i think its called Flip).

Airplay

I stand to be corrected but I don't think you can. I think you can only stream to the new Apple TV and / or Airplay-enabled speakers e.g. using Airport Express. EDIT: The alternative is to use the Apple Remote app and link it to your iTunes library on your Mac. That will play music and other media...

How Does Air Print Work?
First post
Last post
You need a compatible printer (PDF) . Or the app found in this thread . The app, Printopia from ecamm.com, works seamlessly and superbly. Thank you jcturner! It allows me to print instantly from iPad or iPhone direct to my HP all-in-one or to send the document to my iMac or to send it to DropBox....

Retro (80's) Gaming on iPhone
First post
Last post
As an old gamer and a contributor to Retro Gamer, I play a lot of iOS retro-oriented games. To my mind, direct conversions are usually poor, because they don't suit the hardware. The C64, Speccy and Sega emulators are, for me, a waste of time. However, there's nonetheless plenty of great retro...

Orange Signal.

I only have a GPRS signal at home. Walk a quarter of a mile around the estate and Edge and then finally 3G appears. I'm on o2 but it just goes to show how random the 3G signal can be whatever network you are on.

Ok. version 2.2 Froyo is the latest version for most Android phones and there were quite a few new things on it. Version 3 Gingerbread is due out any time soon, although when end users get it depends on how quickly the various mobile companies do their checks and release it.

Is iOS4.1 ok for the old 3G ?
[ Go to page: 1, 2 ]

My daughter has my 'old' 3G and she has never forgiven me for slapping the iOS4 beta on it. It was markedly slow after that and with each subsequent release, although it has got nippier, it is still a lot slower than it used to be. With the benefit of hindsight I'm not sure I'd upgrade from 3x to...
