Yesterday morning I picked my iPhone 13 Pro up from its charger and saw that the Homepage only had five lines of icons, not six. Four were missing with a large white space where they were.
It took me several days to work out which were the missing ones (!) and then they were easily replaced from the App Library screen. But what on earth caused that? The phone was supposedly asleep, on its magnetic charger through the night. I'm running IOS 16.
Thanks,
Lorimer

Where did they go and what caused it? My guess is that you will probably never know. My further guess is that it will never happen again – and, therefore, further inquiry is a waste of energy. Just guesses.
You could always check the Internet for others experiencing the same issue. And a future update to iOS 16 might have a fix. There has already been one update to the original release.

First thing to do when anything weird happens is to switch it off and switch it back on again. If that doesn’t work then do a force restart.
Either of those usually fix stuff like this.

Is anyone able to download the user guide for iOS 16? I clicked on a link to download it on the "web book" https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/welcome/ios but there was no download possible.
"To explore the iPhone User Guide, click Table of Contents at the top of the page, or enter a word or phrase in the search field. You can also download the guide from Apple Books (where available)."

Me no understand.
There are, of course, those two words ("where available") in Apple's instructions. The user guide for iOS 16 is not available in the Apple Books store. The latest version available is IOS 15.5.
I certainly do not have that user guide downloaded-to/present-in my Books.app.

There is a setting that will delete/offload apps not used for xx many days. Could that be enabled?

Thanks, but that is not the issue.
I am not talking about using my phone to download the book. I am talking about downloading the book onto my desktop computer: the MacOS iBooks.app. I have always done that, and have the iOS 15.5 iPhone user guide on my Mac. As well as that for iPad.
I find it much more useful to have the iPhone/iPad user guide on my computer – so that I can be reading the guide, and at the same time actually using the phone/pad and following instructions/hints on it.

I have "downloaded" the iOS 16 use guide to "Books" app on my Mac (running Monterey OS12.6). Also on iPhone 11 running iOS 16.
