So, I create a Reminder, enter a date, enter a time(5 minutes from now). It appears in the list. Comes the time and nothing happens: no sound, nothing visual, nada.

What aren't I doing?

Have you got notifications switched on for Reminders?

Thanks. Never even considered that. Assumed it would be like setting an alarm.

You would think so. Glad it was a simple fix.

Well, you learn something new some days.
I had never used the Reminders.app – probably because I did not know that it existed :!: I found it, and made sure that the settings included notifications to be on (thanks, Chris), and then I did the following two things:

1. I asked Siri to ”remind me when it was 1:30”. She did so – but that ”reminder” came from the Clock.app. In effect, I had asked Siri (without realizing it) to set an alarm for that time. It certainly was an easy way to accomplish that. I need to remember that.

2. I asked Siri to ”set a reminder for 1:45”. She did so – but only after asking me what I wanted to be reminded of. She's good :!: I said, ”Nothing in particular". At 1:45, she reminded me of Nothing in particular. :) (Sounds like someone that I used to date.) That reminder came from the Reminders.app.

I could get used to this.

Reminders is a great app, I use it all the time and have several lists for various. One shared with the family as a shopping list, so we can all add to it during the week.
A little bit of a pain when stuff gets added when I'm half way around the shop
