Many's the time I've wanted to give a specific app to a particular person as a gift, but I've never discovered how to do it. I have read somewhere it's possible to do it, but never how. What I'm trying to avoid is sending an iTunes voucher for an educational app, but finding they spend it on music instead.
Any suggestions?

Sorry, I forgot to mention I want to send it to someone in a different country and my iTunes account is set up for Switzerland only... which means if I send it to England, they wont be able to use it...

When did you try it last? Might work now, recently, voucher codes become usable worldwide. Could be the same for app gifting?

Ah right. I did wonder how they would deal with currency conversions. Thanks for clarifying.

I've been on that link, and there is NO mention of gifting an app to a different country. I actually ran through the instructions and three quarters of the way through the small print said it would only be valid in the Swiss iTunes Store.
I can send an iTunes Gift Voucher to someone else, but the gifting an app procedure does not allow you to select an address, it takes your default from your iTunes account.
Trust me, I tried it, it didn't work. I sent a voucher in the end.

Thanks for posting confirmation. It's a problem I run into time and time again, Apple's corporate policy seems to be that cross border purchases are not allowed. They blame the "content providers" but in reality it's them seeking to sell as expensive as possible wherever possible IMO. Amazon UK sells me stuff without any problems. It's the same with iTunes - I have to go through the Swiss iTunes Store and there are lots of UK centric things I just cannot get.
It's really bl00dy annoying.
