This may seem like a daft question, but what advantage would there be for someone in the UK shopping in the US store?

Not knowing the answer to that, I gave a "real" address; one that actually exists. Although I have no "relationship" with that address. Post is never used - so post will never be delivered to that address. Their software may, or may not, check for a real address; the name (your name), however, does not have to match.
When I recently signed up to Netflix, I had to give a real address. Here's what happened: when I entered the address (which I knew to be real), I was told that it was an apartment building - and that an apartment number was needed to complete the address!!

By the way, anyone wishing to establish an American iTunes account, give an address in Oregon. They have no sales tax (VAT).
