Everybody sues everyone else these days. They are all paranoid that the next product on the market might be better than their own one.
There are only a certain number of ways to make and design various products. You only have to look at cars for example. Some People Carriers, SUV's, or whatever you like to call them, at a first glance look very similar to each other. Take for example the Nissan Quashqai. Have a look around and see how much other makers have very similar looking cars on the market.
Maybe some of Apple's ideas have been used by other companies, but let's be honest, Apple probably aren't blameless about nicking ideas either.

If there were no software patents the world would need fewer lawyers and things that used software would cost less. As sportsman said, there really are only so many ways you can do certain things, and if you patent them all, one day no innovation will be possible.

Have you actually seen the Galaxy S in real life? Its is an absolute ringer for the iPhone both in looks and the way the icons are on screen. Its no surprise that Apple are suing.

I've only seen pictures, but it did look familiar - actually, quite a lot of the post-iPhone smartphones look like copies to me.

a tablet pc is a tablet pc
which maybe used/called a phone
much the same, same as
htc mainly use android
apple use iOS
