Don't see the point in remaking it myself.

Kind of agree, although I wouldn't mind a film about what happened to the characters and their world 30 years on. However, this is more like a chase carrying on from the ending of Thunderdome.

An old thread but why start another? I watched John Wick today. There's not a lot of story, is there? I'm guessing 2 is more of the same I look forward to seeing that.

Thought we'd watch Independence Day Resurgence on telly (Film4?) and didn't last our usual 20-minute test. It was one of those ones without any characters you cared about and a plot that was yawningly familiar. Ho hum.
A film we really appreciated (enjoy is probably not a suitable word) was , about the African-American women involved in the Nasa space programme in the 60s. The cinema audience could not have had more than a taste of what they went through in real life, but it's a good story well told.

I couldn't make it past the twenty minute mark either with Independence Day Resurgence. Truly awful film.

Ah I recorded that as well. I'm not expecting much, but like you, I thought I would give it a go as I survived the first one. I'm not expecting anything now.

Well, I watched IDR 1.5 times.
I missed the first 15 mins, stuck with it until I dropped the remote control and lost the pause/scroll past adverts feature, so started it again on Film4+ or whatever it is - I have no idea what the bloody thing was about.
The best bit was the Eton educated African Warlord.
Why no one asked him about his other, 'visions' is a mystery.
Will Smith did well to decline this one.

Hidden Figures is on Amazon on DVD for £4.50. I have no idea what it is about.
I also bought some films during the Mega-Week event. I've still not watched them all but the Deadpool two are (imo) hilarious. I also got Atomic Blonde which is a decent spy/shooty/loads of blood/some naughty bits film. I'm yet to watch Blade Runner 2049 and Ready Player One.
On favourites - I still rate Galaxy Quest as a good spoof of you-know-what.

They have started filming in Lyme Regis this week. Things around here are rarely exciting and perhaps I should pop over and see Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet in action? The film is called Ammonite and directed by Francis Lee about Lyme's famous fossil hunter Mary Anning although I think a few of the locals might not be pleased with the artistic storyline (re: the lesbian relationship).
