I don't think that any lockdown is going to more than just put a delay on the virus. The first national lockdown was successful in that it slowed the initial infection rate while we gained an understanding of the virus and how, and how not, to treat it.
I stopped trying to understand the various "solutions" a while ago. Different "experts" with different opinions. Different stats showing different outcomes. Different politicians with different "solutions", often influenced by an agenda.
It seems fairly certain that something like over 90% of deaths are of people over 75. Over 95% are over 84. Nearly all with contributory factors.
The lives of the rest of the population are being put in jeopardy/ruined/disrupted at great cost financially, economically and medically to people and the country, to try and prolong the lives of a few.
Yes, I know that sounds harsh and cruel, but that's the reality.

Reality is people of all ages dying from COVID-19. My friend worked in Critical Care during the first months of the pandemic and saw people in their 20s and upward dying from the virus.
All medical treatment is just prolonging life. Should we stop treating cancer?

I'm not sure where we are now, apart from in a confussing spiralling muddle .. but I hope whatever the latest lunacy requires you to do, isn't setting up a grim and bitter Christmas. By having no excuse to not visit people you'd rather avoid. Like the Plague.
I joke..
We will be banged up in solitary in Sussex, with daughter and her most convivial husband living it up in Hanoi, and not here .. as is the custom, cracking open bottles and singing the roof off.
But hey ho..
I feel sorry for the Mistletoe sellers.

So, Wales had their 2 week "circuit break" and the number of cases reduced. They came out of that a couple of weeks ago and what happens today? I have no intention going anywhere or seeing anyone except delivery people and the child who returned after uni. and shows no sign of b-ing off. He hasn't been outside since the "event" started.
It's a bit rich allowing xmas while cancelling equally important events for other religions. What's more, many of the xmas-doers are not really active or believing Christians.
