I get the impression, maybe wrongly, that you turn it off regularly. Why would that be?

And why would that be? It wouldn't sap the battery much to leave it on and Do Not Disturb does what it says.

I'd suggest that you'd be better off leaving it on. They are designed for that these days. Even if you don't like the idea, and it is your iPhone, it might be worth testing for a few days to see if the battery behaves or is still 'playful' during the trial period. For elimination purposes.

I know A habit from my Windows days. I did try clicking sleep but it doesn't seem to doze off, just darken the screen and keep going. The battery does then drop some 20 - 30% overnight. I might be doing something 'wrong' but this thread is about your trusty 5S.

When I had a 5s it was never switched off. It’s been the same with every iPhone I’ve had.

I believe that shutting down initiates certain "house-keeping" processes, which can cure some ills, as well as keeping things in order. That is why I shut down my phone and pad every two weeks or so.

Quick update. Battery showed 1% this morning when switched on. This time I did the standard "computer fix" of turning off then back on. Battery showed 95%, which is what it should have done initially.
